Legal
Terms of Service
These Terms govern your use of Orinn. They form a binding agreement between you and Locator Family360 LLP, the operator of Orinn. Please read them carefully — by creating an account or pairing a child device, you accept these Terms.
1. Accepting these Terms
By creating an Orinn account, pairing a child device, or otherwise using the Orinn apps or our website, you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use Orinn.
2. Who can use Orinn
- Parent / guardian. To create a parent account you must be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) and have legal authority over each child whose device you pair.
- Child. Children of any age may use the child app, provided their parent or legal guardian has paired them and consented to the data described in our Privacy Policy. We follow United States COPPA standards globally — a child under 13 may only be added by a verified parent or guardian.
- Co-parents. You may invite additional parents (for example a spouse, partner, or other guardian) to your family. Each co-parent has the same level of visibility into the children of that family. Adding a co-parent is your decision and your responsibility.
3. Your account and family
You are responsible for keeping your account credentials and your Apple ID secure. Orinn relies on Sign in with Apple, which means your Apple account's security posture is also Orinn's. We strongly recommend two-factor authentication on your Apple ID.
You are responsible for the accuracy of the family information you enter (children's names, places, notification preferences). You are responsible for telling each child what is being shared from their device and why, in age-appropriate language.
4. How you agree to use the app
- Use Orinn only to look out for the safety of your own children, or other people for whom you have legal authority to make decisions about technology use (for example, an elderly parent in your care who has consented).
- Do not use Orinn to track adults, employees, romantic partners, household help, or any other person without their informed and ongoing consent. Doing so may violate the laws of your jurisdiction and is a violation of these Terms.
- Do not attempt to access, modify, reverse-engineer, scrape, or interfere with the Orinn apps, our APIs, our infrastructure, or other users' data.
- Do not use Orinn for any unlawful, harmful, harassing, defamatory, or fraudulent purpose.
- Do not impersonate another person when creating an account or pairing a device.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that we reasonably believe violate these rules.
5. Privacy
Our Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and protect your family's data. It is part of these Terms. By accepting these Terms you also accept the Privacy Policy.
6. Service availability and accuracy
Orinn is a software service that depends on third parties (Apple's iOS, Apple Push Notification service, GPS satellites, mobile carriers, Google Cloud infrastructure). We work hard to keep the service running 24/7, but we cannot guarantee that:
- The service will be available without interruption.
- Location data will always be accurate, fresh, or delivered within a specific time.
- Push notifications will always be delivered (Apple, the operating system, and the network can delay or drop them).
Do not rely on Orinn as the only safety net for your child. Orinn is a complement to, not a replacement for, the ordinary supervision and safety planning that comes with parenting.
7. Subscriptions and billing
Orinn includes a free tier and a paid Plus tier. Plus subscriptions are billed by Apple through the App Store. The exact price and renewal terms are shown to you on the in-app purchase screen before you confirm.
- Subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- You can manage and cancel your subscription at any time in iOS Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.
- Refunds are handled by Apple per their standard App Store policy; we are not in a position to issue refunds directly.
- If your subscription lapses, Plus features are disabled. Your family's data is preserved; only the Plus-only features (such as emailed weekly recaps) stop.
8. Account termination
You may delete your account at any time in Settings → Privacy → Delete my account. Doing so removes your data and your children's data from our systems within 30 days, per our retention practices described in the Privacy Policy.
We may suspend or terminate accounts for any of the reasons in section 4 above, or where required by law. Where it's reasonable to do so, we will give you notice and an opportunity to address the issue first.
9. Intellectual property
Orinn, the Orinn name, the Orinn logos, and the apps' design, code, copy, and visual assets are owned by Locator Family360 LLP and protected by intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the apps as intended.
You retain ownership of the content you put into Orinn (your family's photos, your saved places, your notes). You grant us a limited license to host, process, and display that content as needed to operate the service.
10. Disclaimers and limitation of liability
To the maximum extent allowed by applicable law, Orinn is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We disclaim all implied warranties including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
Neither Orinn nor Locator Family360 LLP shall be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data, or goodwill, arising out of or related to your use of Orinn. Our total liability for any claim related to the service shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose, or USD 100, whichever is greater.
Nothing in these Terms limits your statutory rights as a consumer that cannot be waived under applicable law.
11. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States (excluding its conflicts-of-law rules), unless a mandatory consumer-protection law in your country of residence specifies otherwise.
If you and we have a dispute, we encourage you to email us at hello@orinn.app first. Most issues are resolvable that way. If a dispute cannot be resolved informally, the courts of Delaware will have exclusive jurisdiction, subject to any mandatory rights you have to bring proceedings in your home country.
12. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make a material change, we will notify you in the app or by email at least 14 days before the change takes effect, and we will update the "Effective" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Orinn after the change takes effect counts as acceptance of the new Terms.
